Yorungez

One sky. Everyone’s curiosity.

Yorungez is a not-for-profit, free and ad-free open-source project making astronomy accessible to everyone.

Explore with science

The map calculates celestial directions for an observer and a UTC instant. Live mode advances the clock; simulation explores a chosen instant. A calculated position is not a weather measurement or a guarantee of naked-eye visibility.

Astronomy Engine supplies Solar System calculations. The HYG star catalogue, OpenNGC deep-sky data and constellation data retain their own provenance and licences. Object-centre directions exclude atmospheric refraction; traditional rise/set conventions are kept separate.

Enlarged planets, constellation artwork, scenery and colourful sky images are visual representations. They are not telescope images or a live broadcast from your location. New data types are not presented as scientific results without sources and validation.

Open code, accountable sources

Original code and project documentation use Apache-2.0. Third-party catalogues, photographs, artwork and audio retain their own licences; they do not all share the code licence. Source code, tests and data provenance are public.

One project, two experiences

The Web sky is available now. Yorungez for Android and iOS is in development and has not yet been released in app stores. Web and mobile use the same account and backend services.
